From spherical oscillator sounds to swinging Balkans folklore.
Aleksandar Sanja Ilíc is one of the most successful composers of former Yugoslavia. He composes music for cinema and theatre and has already won numerous awards at various music festivals. His formation “Balkanika” is made up from young and talented musicians, which in itself isn’t that special yet. Their kind of music though – performed on traditional Balkan brass instruments – makes the difference. There are hardly any words to describe the intensity, power and virtuosity which unite elements of world music with rhythms from the Balkans to something new and original.
